PetSmart Veterinary Services Omaha West Maple
His office staff and veterinary team are wonderful people, who go above, and beyond to make sure that everything is done correctly, and well.
Hallelujah! After living in Nebraska for 7, years, I have finally found a veterinarian that I can trust!
July 6, 2026 ( first visit) I really liked the fact that Dr. Williams remained in the room to perform the examination instead of taking my puppy into the back room to examine him . I think that caused less stress for my puppy, as the dr examined him while giving him attention and making it into a play session. The doctor is very personable and answered all of my questions. As I was basically interviewing him for further care of my pets, I found that he will always be the doctor my pets see, and he is more available to help my pets in a crisis than the so called emergency vets located in Omaha. He is well informed about the specific animal breeds who own me, and he will handle any surgeries my pets may need.Another plus in my opinion is that the office is clean. This “ old fashioned “ type veterinarian is exactly what I have been looking for!

Why PetSmart Urgent Care Services?
Meet your Veterinarian
Dr. Zachary Williams knew he wanted to be a vet at 5 years old. He turned his passion into a profession and opened his own practice with PetSmart Veterinary Services to put medicine first and focus on providing quality care to his customers. He enjoys volunteering at shelter events, spending time with his kids and four cats, and relaxing with a good book.

Frequently asked questions
We provide kind and compassionate care with detailed explanations customers often don’t receive elsewhere.
We offer a wide range of services including surgery, exotic care and critical care. We treat joint/spine issues including arthritis, ACL tears, intervertebral disk disease and soft tissue injuries; GI issues including diarrhea, vomiting and food sensitivities; skin problems including ear infections, hot spots and allergies; and injuries including lacerations, animal bites and accidents.
Warmer months can bring more allergies and skin problems as well as various parasites. Omaha is in the top 10 cities for heartworm infections, which makes warmer months even more dangerous. During the colder months we see frostbite injuries and increased joint issues, as cold weather can make joints feel stiffer.
Some locations in Nebraska may be hesitant to see certain breeds, such as bully breeds. We love to see our bully patients! We also pride ourselves in explaining everything along the way so that owners can feel informed and confident in the care their pets receive.
Ask as many questions as you can and never be afraid to call to learn more. There is no such thing as a stupid question or a dumb concern. We are here to help so never be afraid to reach out.
Yes, PetSmart Veterinary Services hospitals are located inside select PetSmart stores. These clinics provide comprehensive care for pets ranging from wellness checks to vaccines and select hospitals offer urgent care treatment including infections, coughing, or vomiting. Contact your local PetSmart to confirm the availability of specific services.
PetSmart Veterinary Services hospitals provide a variety of vaccines for both dogs and cats, including vaccines for rabies, distemper, parvovirus, and more. However, services may vary by location, so it’s best to contact your local PetSmart to confirm their current offerings. Please note some PetSmart Veterinary Services urgent care locations don’t offer vaccinations.
In general, dog vaccines can be divided into two categories: core vaccines and non-core vaccines.
Core vaccines are those that every dog should receive, regardless of lifestyle or location. These include:
- Rabies: Required by law in most areas due to its potential to infect humans.
- Distemper: Protects against a highly contagious and often deadly disease.
- Parvovirus: Protects against a very serious, highly contagious viral illness.
- Adenovirus (Hepatitis): Protects against a virus that causes liver disease.
- Leptospira bacteria (Leptospirosis): Protects against acute kidney and liver failure caused by the leptospira bacteria.
Non-core vaccines are administered depending on the dog’s exposure risk. These may include vaccines for diseases such as:
- Bordetella Bronchiseptica (kennel cough)
- Borrelia Burgdorferi (Lyme disease)
- Canine influenza (Dog Flu)
- Parainfluenza
- Canine Coronavirus
The frequency of vaccinations can also depend on several factors such as the dog’s age, medical history, lifestyle, and habits. Puppies typically receive a series of vaccines starting at 6-8 weeks of age and continuing every 2-4 weeks until they are at least 16 weeks old. Adult dogs might receive certain vaccines annually, while others might be given every 3 years or longer. Always consult with a veterinarian about the best vaccination schedule for your specific dog, as they can provide the most personalized and accurate advice.
For additional details about dog vaccine schedules, please review our Puppy Vaccine Guide or this puppy vaccine short from Dr. Hodges, DVM, of PetSmart Veterinary Services.
- Grooming: To maintain a safe, comfortable environment, we require all pets to be current on their rabies vaccinations and to wait at least 48 hours after any vaccinations before checking in. Proof of rabies vaccination in the form of paperwork is required. The waiting period helps to ensure your pet isn’t sore at the injection site, which can cause irritability or lethargy. This waiting period also is to prevent stressing a pet who may be experiencing an unexpected allergic reaction from a vaccine/vaccination. Puppies and kittens between 8 weeks and 4 months of age (3 months in Indiana) may receive services in the salon without vaccinations. In New York City, 6-month Bordetella and DHPP with Adenovirus are also required. In Iowa, DPP with Adenovirus is required. In Connecticut, proof of town license is required. Please note: All pets must be in good health prior to receiving any grooming services.
- PetsHotel & Doggie Day Camp: Vaccinations must be administered at least 48 hours prior to arrival under the guidance of a licensed veterinarian. However, we prefer vaccinations be administered 10-14 days before check-in to ensure maximum efficiency. Written proof is required. You must also show proof of your pet meeting state and local pet boarding vaccination requirements. Please check with your local PetSmart to verify/confirm your local requirements. For cat PetsHotel guests to stay, we also require FVRCP.
- DPP with Adenovirus (Distemper, Parvovirus & Parainfluenza) 1 or 3-yr. vaccine required
- Bordetella Required every 6 months (or as required under the applicable law of your jurisdiction or residence) and at least 48 hours prior to check-in to ensure maximum efficiency and protection against Kennel Cough. Please note that many veterinarians administer this vaccine only by request.
- FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus & Panleukopenia) (for cats) 1 or 3-yr. vaccine required
- Rabies 1 or 3-yr. vaccine required
- Canine Influenza (for dogs) Not required, but highly recommended to help protect against the Canine Influenza respiratory illness. Consult your veterinarian.
- Leptospirosis Not required, but highly recommended to help protect against the Leptospirosis infection. Consult your veterinarian.
Fleas & Ticks In addition to vaccinations, all pets should be flea and tick free. Overnight and Day Camp guests with signs of fleas and/or ticks will not be permitted to check-in at PetsHotel.
