Meet your Veterinarian
Dr. Carla M. Olivo has been dedicated to veterinary medicine since the age of 16, when she began assisting at an animal shelter. What started as a passion for animal welfare soon became a lifelong career. She earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2018 and has since been committed to delivering the highest standard of medical care with compassion and integrity. Deeply connected to her community, Dr. Olivo continues to support local animal rescue organizations and strives to make a positive impact on every pet and family she serves. Outside the clinic, she enjoys spending time with her family, caring for her four dogs and two leopard geckos, and visiting her hometown in Puerto Rico.

Ghinette Wills
Veterinary Assistant
Born and raised in Jamaica, Ghinette Wills has always had a natural love and compassion for animals. Her passion for veterinary medicine began as a child and led her to start her career in the United States as a Veterinary Assistant in 2016. This path has given her the opportunity to support animals and their families while continuing to grow personally and professionally. Ghinette enjoys learning new skills and challenging herself to discover new things. Outside of work, her hobbies include reading, sewing, drawing, planting and spending time outdoors. Caring for Selah reminds her of the joy, personality, unconditional companionship and love animals bring into our lives.
Jacklyn Santiago
Veterinary Assistant
Jacklyn Santiago is originally from Pennsylvania and now lives in Florida. She began her veterinary medicine journey in shelter medicine as a kennel technician while in high school. She also worked at doggy daycares, where she learned a great deal about canine behavior and enjoyed the experience. She was fortunate to begin her career as a veterinary assistant and has always been interested in urgent care, emergency medicine and learning more about unusual cases. Helping the doctor find answers and seeing improvement in patients is especially rewarding to her. Jacklyn started with Dr. Olivo when the hospital opened in November 2025 and has continued to grow as an assistant and technician under her guidance. She looks forward to welcoming new and returning faces.
Osvaldo Rodriguez
Veterinary Assistant
Osvaldo Rodriguez was born in Puerto Rico and raised in Carolina, where many of the values and experiences that shaped him began. He graduated from María Auxiliadora and built a career dedicated to the care and well-being of animals. For 14 years, he worked at a veterinary clinic specializing in horses. That experience contributed to his professional and personal growth and taught him patience, responsibility, dedication and the importance of compassionate, quality care for every animal. Today, Osvaldo is continuing to grow in veterinary medicine and expanding his experience to include dogs, cats and exotic animals. Although each species has unique needs and challenges, his commitment remains the same: to provide the best care possible with respect, compassion and dedication. After many years of working with animals, his passion remains as strong as when he began. For Osvaldo, working with animals is more than a career; it is a calling. He is proud of where his journey began, grateful for what he has learned and excited to continue serving animals and giving back to the community.
Christopher Glenn
Veterinary Assistant
Christopher Glenn is the hospital's resident Labrador Retriever enthusiast. Having been in the field since 2021, Topher fell in love with veterinary medicine after starting as a kennel technician. He most enjoys educating clients and connecting with patients while bringing a warm, positive attitude to each day. He is always interested in learning new techniques, methods and technical terminology. When he is not caring for patients, he is caring for three Labradors, two cats, a betta fish and a leopard gecko at home. As a fun fact, all of his pets' names coincidentally end in the letter A. He also enjoys traveling, especially to France and Italy, as well as reading and gaming. Pet parents visiting PetSmart Veterinary Services in Brandon can expect a warm welcome from Topher.

Frequently asked questions
Yes, PetSmart Veterinary Services hospitals are located inside select PetSmart stores. These clinics provide comprehensive care for pets ranging from wellness checks to vaccines and select hospitals offer urgent care treatment including infections, coughing, or vomiting. Contact your local PetSmart to confirm the availability of specific services.
PetSmart Veterinary Services hospitals provide a variety of vaccines for both dogs and cats, including vaccines for rabies, distemper, parvovirus, and more. However, services may vary by location, so it’s best to contact your local PetSmart to confirm their current offerings. Please note some PetSmart Veterinary Services urgent care locations don’t offer vaccinations.
In general, dog vaccines can be divided into two categories: core vaccines and non-core vaccines.
Core vaccines are those that every dog should receive, regardless of lifestyle or location. These include:
- Rabies: Required by law in most areas due to its potential to infect humans.
- Distemper: Protects against a highly contagious and often deadly disease.
- Parvovirus: Protects against a very serious, highly contagious viral illness.
- Adenovirus (Hepatitis): Protects against a virus that causes liver disease.
Non-core vaccines are administered depending on the dog’s exposure risk. These may include vaccines for diseases such as:
- Bordetella Bronchiseptica (kennel cough)
- Borrelia Burgdorferi (Lyme disease)
- Leptospira bacteria (Leptospirosis)
- Canine influenza (Dog Flu)
- Parainfluenza
- Canine Coronavirus
The frequency of vaccinations can also depend on several factors such as the dog’s age, medical history, lifestyle, and habits. Puppies typically receive a series of vaccines starting at 6-8 weeks of age and continuing every 2-4 weeks until they are at least 16 weeks old. Adult dogs might receive certain vaccines annually, while others might be given every 3 years or longer. Always consult with a veterinarian about the best vaccination schedule for your specific dog, as they can provide the most personalized and accurate advice.
For additional details about dog vaccine schedules, please review our Puppy Vaccine Guide or this puppy vaccine short from Dr. Hodges, DVM, of PetSmart Veterinary Services.
- Grooming: To maintain a safe, comfortable environment, we require all pets to be current on their rabies vaccinations and to wait at least 48 hours after any vaccinations before checking in. Proof of rabies vaccination in the form of paperwork is required. The waiting period helps to ensure your pet isn’t sore at the injection site, which can cause irritability or lethargy. This waiting period also is to prevent stressing a pet who may be experiencing an unexpected allergic reaction from a vaccine/vaccination. Puppies and kittens between 8 weeks and 4 months of age (3 months in Indiana) may receive services in the salon without vaccinations. In New York City, 6-month Bordetella and DHPP with Adenovirus are also required. In Iowa, DPP with Adenovirus is required. In Connecticut, proof of town license is required. Please note: All pets must be in good health prior to receiving any grooming services.
- PetsHotel & Doggie Day Camp: Vaccinations must be administered at least 48 hours prior to arrival under the guidance of a licensed veterinarian. However, we prefer vaccinations be administered 10-14 days before check-in to ensure maximum efficiency. Written proof is required. You must also show proof of your pet meeting state and local pet boarding vaccination requirements. Please check with your local PetSmart to verify/confirm your local requirements. For cat PetsHotel guests to stay, we also require FVRCP.
- DPP with Adenovirus (Distemper, Parvovirus & Parainfluenza) 1 or 3-yr. vaccine required
- Bordetella Required every 6 months (or as required under the applicable law of your jurisdiction or residence) and at least 48 hours prior to check-in to ensure maximum efficiency and protection against Kennel Cough. Please note that many veterinarians administer this vaccine only by request.
- FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus & Panleukopenia) (for cats) 1 or 3-yr. vaccine required
- Rabies 1 or 3-yr. vaccine required
- Canine Influenza (for dogs) Not required, but highly recommended to help protect against the Canine Influenza respiratory illness. Consult your veterinarian.
- Leptospirosis Not required, but highly recommended to help protect against the Leptospirosis infection. Consult your veterinarian.
Fleas & Ticks In addition to vaccinations, all pets should be flea and tick free. Overnight and Day Camp guests with signs of fleas and/or ticks will not be permitted to check-in at PetsHotel.
